A touch of James Bond glamour is coming to Folkestone this autumn — and it’s all in the name of community and compassion.
Licence to Care: Bond Night, organised by Care Anchor Kent CIC, will take place on Saturday 11 October 2025 at the Burlington Hotel. Guests can expect an evening of canapés, live music, raffles and Bond-inspired atmosphere, all while raising money for two causes rooted in Kent life.
The event will support both Care Anchor Kent CIC, which provides vital resources and wellbeing support for unpaid and paid carers across the county, and the Maya Nash Cancer Journey, a family-led campaign to help young Maya and her loved ones as she faces her cancer battle. Funds raised will also go towards creating a peaceful garden sanctuary for Maya.
> “We’re inviting the community to come together for a fun-filled night that supports both local carers and a brave young girl fighting a tough battle,” a Care Anchor Kent spokesperson said. “Events like this not only raise funds but also build compassion and awareness for those who are often working quietly behind the scenes in our society.”
What to expect on the night
The evening begins at 7pm with a welcome drink and canapés, before food platters are served at the table. Entertainment will include live performances from Jack Marshall in the bar and sets from local singers, with a raffle promising an array of prizes.
The Burlington’s historic setting will provide the backdrop for an evening that blends Bond-themed sparkle with the warmth of community giving.
A call for match funding
Organisers are also appealing for a match funder — a business, philanthropist or organisation willing to match donations on the night up to £2,000. The initiative would double the impact of every pound raised.
“Match funding can significantly boost our efforts,” the spokesperson added. “It encourages generosity by showing every donation will go twice as far. We hope a community-minded partner will step forward to stand beside us — and Maya.”
The fundraising goal
The aim is to raise at least £2,000 in profit on the night, with the hope of doubling that through match funding.
